Seventeen-year-old Claire Collins has a plan: get into college and leave North Carolina behind. What she doesn’t have is an idea for how to get rid of the local football star and womanizer extraordinaire—Adam Meade, who she can’t even avoid (despite many efforts), because Claire’s dad is the high school football coach.
Seventeen-year-old Adam Meade never fails. He always gets what he wants… until he meets Claire, the new girl who leaves him unnerved, pissed off, and confused. But there’s something about her that he just can’t resist…
With the bite of lemon meringue pie and the sugar of sweet tea, Surviving Adam Meade is a sexy and compelling young adult novel about two strong-willed people who think they know what they want but have no idea what they need.
I recently had the chance to read one of my most anticipated Contemporary books of this year, Surviving Adam Meade by Shannon Klare, it was a very fun story that made me laugh more than once🙌🤣
Surviving Adam Meade is a story about two characters, Claire Collins and Adam Meade, who want different things and have different goals. The only thing that they have in common is that they can’t stand each other😉 Claire left so many things behind, including her friends and nex-boyfriend, when she, her mother and brother moved because of her dad’s job. The only thing she wants more than anything is to go back and visit her friends, maybe even see the guy she used to love and broke her heart one last time but for that, she has to help her father and mom with some errands. Her parents want to help her to settle in but at the beginning that’s not what Claire really wants…
While reading this story I noticed how Claire learned how to move on from her past and started to live a new life surrounded by people who cared about her, who supported her and even when they made fun of her – that would be Adam of course – loved her❤ Claire was a character that kept surprising me till the very end, she was super funny and I just loved to read about how she constantly pushed Adam’s buttons whenever she had a chance, the fact that they really, REALLY, couldn’t stand each other from the very beginning made the story super interesting!
At the beginning of the story I wasn’t a big fan of Adam. I was actually cheering for Claire when she said things that annoyed Adam, so I can guarantee that you will definitely laugh more than once. I liked how later they became friends and eventually became something more. He was someone that surprised me, he was sweet and I just loved how he and Claire were perfect for each other.
Adam was someone who was determined. He knew what he wanted and he was sometimes stubborn about it. My heart broke for them some times, they had some ups and downs, but that only made the story feel more real. I liked how they talked about it and eventually moved on.
Another thing I loved about this story was the connection between Claire and her family and Adam and his grandmother. I love to read about happy families that support each other in books. Claire’s parents were super supportive and fun, even her brother, I enjoyed reading about these two, they were constantly negotiating on who would do what in order to be able to use the car🤣 And Wanda, Adam’s grandmother, is a character that will make you smile a lot, she’s the sweetest ever and I loved how she always supported Adam, she was a very special character!
This is story was amazing from beginning to end, I really enjoyed to read about these characters and their lives. They made me laugh and it had just the right amount of romance.❤ I can’t wait for you guys to read this one!
This was such a lovely review, I’m glad you enjoyed this book so much! I recently added it to my TBR and I now can’t wait to hear it, I’m even more impatient knowing there is such a great place for family in here, too. I love the fact that Adam is close to his grandmother that much, that’s so great, we need more of that in books <3
Thank you so much Marie! I can’t wait for you to read it, I think you are going to love it!😊🙌
I loved this book so much, and need the sequel now! The dialog really stood out for me. There was something so fabulous about the banter, and that When Harry Met Sally Moment they had!! It brought tears to my eyes.
AGREED! I laughed so many times😂 I can’t wait to read the second book!
