I’ve become an expert at avoiding things that could hurt me—which means I will figure out how to stay away from Marco Leone.
Seventeen-year-old Frankie Devereux would do anything to forget the past. Haunted by the memory of her boyfriend’s death, she lives her life by one dangerous rule: Nothing matters. At least, that’s what Frankie tells herself after a reckless mistake forces her to leave her privileged life in the Heights to move in with her dad—an undercover cop. She transfers to a public high school in the Downs, where fistfights don’t faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football.
Marco Leone is the fastest street racer in the Downs. Tough, sexy, and hypnotic, he makes it impossible for Frankie to ignore him—and how he makes her feel. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have devastating consequences for them both. When Frankie discovers his secret, she has to make a choice. Will she let the pain of the past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?
MY THOUGHTS
OMG OMG OMG OMG YOU GUYS THIS BOOK IT´S AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
First of all, I want to thank my amazing co-blogger Stacie for giving me the opportunity of reading this amazing book <3 When I first heard about this book, I couldn´t stop thinking about it, I immediately went to Goodreads to read the synopsis and I just knew that I needed to read it.
I absolutely LOVE the cover, the combination of colors and graffiti totally speaks to me and it totally captures the essence of the book ,and I mean we can see Marco AND Frankie <3<3<3<3 so extra points for that.
This book was perfect from the very first page. It`s full of action, sadness, cars, street fights, friendship and of course LOVE.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was the pacing, it was perfect, it wasn´t too fast or slow, it was the kind of pacing that keeps a reader glued to the book since the beginning. I just couldn´t put the book down, I needed to know what happened next.
Frankie, the MC of the story was my favorite character, she was strong, brave and fought for the ones she loved the most. Everything changed since her boyfriend´s death, she wanted to forget everything, to leave everything behind, including herself;
And Marco? He´s perfect, he´s the RIGHT GUY. She tried to deny her feelings for him because she was afraid of loosing the ones she loved, but then, she discovers that she isn´t the only one with a dark past, Marco and her friends, they all had something to fight for… just like her.
Kami Garcia did an amazing job with this beautiful and well written story, her writing will captivate the hearts of a lot of readers <3
FAVORITE QUOTES:
“Why do you care if I´m alone or if I have flashbacks? I´m not your problem.” He stands, too. “What if I want you to be”
“I don`t want to stay away from you, Frankie. I´m not even sure I can”
“Sometimes you have to do the wrong thing, for the right reason”
So what do you guys think!?!?! It sounds amazing right?!?!?! I really hope you guys give this book a chance, if you read it let me know!!!!
